Winter is among us, and if you’re wondering what you could possibly do to pass the time instead of staying inside staying warm, here are a few things going on in Oklahoma that you may want to participate in.

Chickasha Festival of Lights: At this brilliant light show, there are 3.5 million twinkling lights that you can enjoy, with a crystal bridge and a 172-foot Christmas tree. It is known as one of the top ten light shows in the country and it is absolutely free to walk through; some activities, like the horse carriage, do cost money.

Devon Ice Rink: Get ready to bundle up and enjoy; this event is going on now until January 27th. For members, it is $7, non-members are $13 for all ages, and for guests who bring their own skates get in for $8. Regular hours are Monday – Thursday, 3 pm – 9 pm

Friday, 3 pm – 11 pm Saturday, 11 am – 11 pm Sunday, 12 pm – 7 pm.

Sorghum Mill Christmas Tree and Blackberry Farm: Choose the perfect Christmas Tree at the Sorghum Mill Christmas Tree Farm in Edmond! Sip on hot cocoa or coffee while you search for a tree for your family this holiday. There are many you can choose from and cut down yourself like…Virginia Pine, White Pine, Scotch Pine, Colorado Blue Spruce, Norway Spruce, Blue Ice, Carolina Sapphire, Leyland Cypress, and Austrian Pine trees. There are also trees already cut down that you can browse through… Noble Fir, Douglas Fir, Grand Fir, Nordman Fir, and Fraser Fir trees. You can also get mantle pieces, garlands, and tree stands here.

Arvest Winterfest: In Tulsa, Arvest Winterfest is open to the public for 38 days! Enjoy ice skating beneath Tulsa’s Skyline while also watching the free entertainment. This is going on from November 30th until January 6th.

And while you’re at it, why not figure out some things you can do while staying warm in your own home?

  • Making homemade ornaments for the Christmas tree. Get creative and crafty while also making memories with family and friends. Ornaments can last a very long time, so why not do something that you can remember for years to come?
  • Popcorn and Movie day. While you’re stuck inside, why not curl up with someone and enjoy movies? There are many movies to choose from especially Christmas movies. Christmas movie marathons are my favorite!
  • Holiday Baking. Baking is so fun to do, and you might become really proud of what you make when trying out homemade Christmas cookies, cakes, brownies or pies. Look up a recipe on the internet or use a family recipe; many people love sweets.
  • Dirty Santa. Games are really fun, and it’s even better when you don’t know who it’s from! Choose a gift that’s in your budget or choose something that you already have that is like new.

Now you guys know a few things you can occupy yourselves with when you’re not too busy with school or work. I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
