On March 9, Peyton Barney, Matt Melter, Gabel Ledbetter, and Joseph Bond from Bethel High School’s Powerlifting team went to the state competition hosted by El Reno.

Barney, a senior, placed fifth in his 145 weight class. He maxed out at 1020 points. His squat max was 375 pounds, bench was 230 pounds, and deadlift was 415 pounds. Bond, a junior, maxed out at 660 points in his 123 weight class. His squat max was 220 pounds, bench was 145 pounds, and deadlift was 280 pounds. Ledbetter, a junior, maxed out at 695 points in his 157 weight class. His squat max was 275 pounds, deadlift was 420 pounds, and he scratched on bench. Melter, a junior, maxed out at 1150 points in his 198 weight class. His squat max was 405 pounds, bench was 260 pounds, and deadlift was 485 pounds.

We are proud of these boys for making it to state and working hard. Be on the lookout for the juniors coming back for their senior season next year!
